AÇÃO EXTENSIONISTA EDUCATIVO-PREVENTIVA SOBRE IMUNIZAÇÃO EM ESCOLAS: RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA

Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of medical students from the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD) in the planning and execution of extension actions on the importance of childhood vaccination. Methods: The activities are part of the practices of the discipline of Public Health, taught for the second period of the course. At first, the academics made a visit to the Center for Immunization (NI) of Dourados in order to obtain technical knowledge to analyze the local reality, the difficulties concerning vaccination, especially children. From the authorization of the Municipal Secretary of Education of Dourados (SEMED), two public schools of early childhood education were contacted and planned with the directors, the activities according to the age group of the children. The actions aimed to provide educational information about the importance of immunization in disease prevention and transmission control and was directed to children from five to ten years of age. The action was carried out on three different days involving about 470 students. Through a playful approach with the use of comics and a question-answer dialogue, the action was developed with language appropriate to age nuances, delivery of bracelet and bookmark page of "Zé Gotinha" made by academics, educational pamphlet and chocolate. Result: The extension activity had positive adherence of educational institutions and interaction of children, who responded positively to the theme showed absorption of the information explained. In addition, it was noticed that the integration between the academic community and the external community contributes to more efficient educational-preventive interventions in public health. Final considerations: In addition to the relevant aspects achieved, the theme still demands greater discussion in the children’s educational media, so that questions are clarified and there is the strengthening of the SUS as a guide of health actions for the collectivity.
